MAIN RESEARCH AREAS
We are a translational laboratory conducting both clinical and basic research studies. We investigate the biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders with the goal of identifying and testing new treatments. Principal lines of investigation in the laboratory focus on drug and alcohol addiction, specifically the Glucagon-like peptide-1 system, ketogenic diets, and the muscarinic cholinergic system; psychosis with special emphasis on the interaction between the muscarinic and the dopaminergic transmitter system; adverse effects of antipsychotic treatments and how to ameliorate or prevent these.
