Glutamatergic disturbances in subjects at ultrahigh risk of psychosis as a predictor of long-term outcome, and the effect of cognitive remediation therapy

Christina Wenneberg Psykiatrisk Center København har modtaget et stipendium til forberedelse af ph.d.-protokol.

The purpose of this study is to detect differences in glutamate levels in subjects at ultra-high risk of psychosis (UHR) compared with healthy controls. Furthermore, we wish to investigate whetherthe anticipated increased levels of glutamate in UHR-subjects is a predictor of long-term outcome. Lastly we wish to examine the effect of cognitive remediation therapy (CRT) on these expected glutamatergic disturbances, and whether reduced glutamate release in the prefrontal cortex is seen concomitant to enhanced cognitive functioning.
