Primary research area

Susanne V Koch primarily works within epidemiological research, where information from the CPR registry and the Danish national patient registries are connected with data from other registries, which contribute with for example information about birth and social status, and which are used to describe risk factors for the development of illness, illness patterns and social consequences after illness in the population. Susanne V Koch has previously carried out studies of children with cancer but is now working with children and adolescents with mental disorders. In the future hopefully knowledge from epidemiological and clinical research (translational research) will increase our knowledge of the causes and courses of different disorders so they can be prevented and treated to a greater extent.

Current research

Susanne V Koch is currently working on describing selected risk factors and comorbidity related to the development of anorexia nervosa. The aim is to obtain more knowledge of who is at special high risk of developing the disorder and which factors may obstruct recovery. Furthermore, Susanne V Koch is working on describing prevalence, risk factors and course of psychiatric disorders in 0-3-year-old infants and children.
