Research aim: To investigate the psychometric properties and cross-cultural validity of mental health assessment tools used in refugee populations, with a main focus on PTSD and depression.

Design: Psychometric validation studies using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Item Response Theory (IRT), and other modern statistical techniques to evaluate validity and measurement precision across diverse populations.

Population: Refugees receiving psychiatric treatment at CTP, including Arabic-speaking refugees and other displaced populations.

Methods: We assess the validity and reliability of widely used mental health screening instruments, such as the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire (HTQ), Hopkins Symptom Checklist (HSCL-25), and the International Trauma Interview (ITI), among culturally diverse refugee populations. This includes testing for factorial structure, local dependency issues, and translation validity. Additionally, we examine the procedural validity of computer-assisted self-interviewing (MultiCASI) in refugee populations.
