PTSD and somatic comorbidity

Research aim:

  • To investigate the frequency of physiological and biochemical changes in refugees undergoing treatment for PTSD.
  • To examine the use of somatic health services and medication consumption among these refugees.
  • To explore the relationship between sleep/physical activity, self-reported PTSD symptoms, pain, and various physiological and biochemical parameters.

Design: Retrospective cohort study

Population: 219 refugees diagnosed with PTSD who participated in a RCT.

Methods: Data include self-reported PTSD symptoms, pain, sleep, physical activity, and physiological/biochemical measures such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, blood tests (e.g., vitamin D, lipids, glucose, HbA1C, CRP), medication use, and somatic diagnoses. Statistical analyses will be used to explore the relationships between these factors.
