Research aim: This systematic review aims to investigate sex differences in trauma exposure and PTSD symptomatology among refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and asylum seekers. The goal is to understand how sex-specific factors impact PTSD and trauma experiences in these populations.

Design: A systematic literature review

Methods: The systematic literature review was conducted across three databases (PubMed, PsychInfo, and Embase), including 15 studies for trauma exposure and 8 studies for PTSD symptomatology. Quality assessment was performed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). The review adhered to PRISMA guidelines and included studies that analyzed sex differences in trauma exposure and PTSD symptomatology using various assessment tools. Findings were synthesized qualitatively due to the variability in study design and methods.
