Suicidal behavior among psychiatric patients in Rwanda

Research aim:  To explore the experiences and prevalence of suicidal behavior among individuals with bipolar disorder in Rwanda.

Design: Mixed-method study

Population: 155 patients with bipolar disorder in Rwanda

Methods: Quantitative data are collected in a completed RCT in Rwanda. Descriptive statistics will be performed to describe the prevalence of suicidal behavior. The qualitative part of the study will consist of in depth-interviews with 15 participants from the RCT covering the living experience of suicidal behavior.
