Dr. Nilsson har en baggrund i folkesundhedsvidenskab og en ph.d. fra Københavns Universitet (2018), hvor hun undersøgte psykisk sygdom, misbrug og overdødelighed blandt personer i hjemløshed i Danmark.
Hendes forskning anvender danske registerdata og epidemiologiske metoder til at belyse hjemløshed og social udsathed, med fokus på samspillet mellem psykiatriske diagnoser og sociale forhold. Hun interesser sig bredt for ulighed i sundhed, vold og intergenerationelle problemstillinger.
Hun samarbejder med forskere fra bl.a. Center for Registerforskning ved Aarhus Universitet, ROCKWOOL Fonden og Oxford Universitet, og hendes projekter støttes af brugerorganisationer som Rådet for Social Udsatte, SAND og WeShelter.
Sandra har publiceret i internationale tidsskrifter som The Lancet, vejleder yngre forskere og ph.d.-studerende, underviser på Københavns Universitet og deltager aktivt i den offentlige debat om hjemløshed.

Sandra Feodor Nilsson, PhD, Senior Researcher at the Mental Health Centre Copenhagen

Sandra Feodor Nilsson holds a background in public health and earned her PhD from the University of Copenhagen in 2018, focusing on mental illness, substance use, and excess mortality among people experiencing homelessness in Denmark.
Her research applies Danish registry data and epidemiological methods to explore homelessness and social marginalisation, with particular attention to the interplay between psychiatric diagnoses and social conditions. She is broadly interested in health inequality, violence, and intergenerational challenges.
Sandra collaborates with researchers from Aarhus University, the ROCKWOOL Foundation, and the University of Oxford. Her projects are supported by user organisations such as the Council for Socially Marginalised People, SAND, and WeShelter.
She has published in leading journals including The Lancet, supervises PhD students and early-career researchers, teaches at the University of Copenhagen, and actively contributes to public discussions on homelessness.
